Welcome to the Teaching with Technology (ED 429) wiki!

The purpose of this wiki is to allow students and School of Education faculty to contribute their knowledge and insights to the three main topic areas of ED 429:

The 21st Century Learner topic is an attempt to understand more about the nature of the children that we are expected to teach. Areas of emphasis include the Digital Divide (who has access to technology and who doesn't), the Digital Generation (what does it mean to grow up in a world in which digital technologies have always been present, and what does that suggest about learning styles and habits), Digital Citizenship (Internet safety, copyright, plagiarism, netiquette), and Media and Information Literacy (how to both understand media that is directed at you and to create media to communicate and inform).

Transformed Instruction is a look at the kinds of technologies that can tranform teaching and learning (laptops, handhelds, projectors, smartboards, graphic organizers, streaming video, multimedia technologies, etc.) and how instruction can be designed and delivered in transformed settings to engage all students.

The Next School asks a simple question of students--look ahead ten years and describe what you think your classroom will look like. What kind of technologies might you employ? How will you design your lessons? Will things have changed very much by that time?

Please feel free to contribute to any or all of these discussions. Click on a link (above) to get started.
